Between-Lessons Activities

A vocabulary-games layer for Form 1–3 students (Tingkatan 1–3, not yet on the exam track) — built to fill the six empty days between weekly teacher-released lessons with a daily habit and a growing word bank.

The problem

A teacher releases roughly one 10-minute lesson per week. Students finish it fast — then six empty days.

6

Empty days

These activities fill them with light, replayable vocab games. The loop shifts from "exam transfer" to habit + vocab bank.

🔒

Safe by design

Every game reads only from released or evergreen content — never from a locked upcoming lesson. No way to peek ahead.

Daily Word

A Wordle-style 5-letter puzzle — the same word for everyone at a form level each day, so it reads as a shared daily ritual.

  1. 1One new 5-letter word a day. Six guesses; green = right spot, yellow = wrong spot.
  2. 2Solve it, then a spoken bonus round — say it in a sentence for extra XP.
  3. 3The Home card shows state at a glance: grey → green + 🎤 → gold when fully claimed.

Word Bank

Every word learned from any game or lesson lands in a personal collection the student watches grow. Not a game — a progress surface.

  1. 1A word wall fills over time under a big counter, with milestones at 50 / 100 / 250.
  2. 2Rarity is keyed to CEFR: A2 = common, B1 = rare, B2 = legendary.
  3. 3Tapping a tile opens the existing vocab flashcard — the collection doubles as revision.

Listening Plays twice

Spelling Bee

Hear the word in the AI lesson voice, then type the spelling. A stealth Paper 4 listening drill years before students meet it.

  1. 1Tap the speaker to hear a word from the form-level bank.
  2. 2It plays twice only — mirroring the SPM Paper 4 played-twice rule, with a visible counter.
  3. 3Type what you hear. Five words a round; correct ones bank automatically.

04 / Friendlier hangman
Arcade Tap to guess

Balloon Rescue

Guess the hidden word before six balloons pop — a friendlier fiction than hangman for 13-year-olds.

  1. 1The blanks show the word's length; tap letters to fill it in.
  2. 2A wrong letter pops one of your six balloons. Rescue the word before they're gone.
  3. 3A win banks the word. Voice guessing is deferred behind an accent-ASR spike — tap is the default.

Mini Crossword

A new 5×5 crossword every day, shared by the whole form level — a full year of puzzles, so nothing repeats. Grid on top, clue strip and keyboard within thumb reach.

  1. 1Tap a square to read its clue; tap again to switch across or down.
  2. 2The selected word washes yellow; type answers with the on-screen keyboard.
  3. 3Fill it correctly to win — all the words join your Word Bank. Clues are drawn from an evergreen A2/B1 bank.

The threads that tie them together

Every game plugs into the same underlying systems, so they feel like one arcade rather than five separate toys.

🗺️ One "How to play" card

A shared intro card appears the first time a student opens any game and is reopenable from a ? button — so no game has to be figured out from the board.

🎤 Speaking stays the hero

XP is weighted toward speaking (~3×) and silent games are daily-capped, so the word games can't cannibalise real speaking practice. Any leaderboard would rank effort, never scores.

🏆 Everything feeds the bank

Words won in any game deposit into the Word Bank and log to the teacher dashboard's "Extra practice" column — separate from the graded weekly classwork mark.

🎨 This is where "loud" lives

Lessons stay calm; the arcade gets the v7 loud identity — Electric Blue, Archivo Black scores, 2px ink outlines, hard offset shadows, popping balloons.

📝 Note for the team: the Mini Crossword ships with ~700 AI-drafted clues (422 A2 · 280 B1) — solid to launch with, and easily tuned in one editable file if you want to tweak wording.
